 Trial Lawyers Who Give Back

In 2007, the attorneys at Walsh, Knippen, Knight & Pollock, Chtd. continued to contribute a portion of the fees they secured through their dedication and commitment to professional excellence to select not-for-profit organizations.

Environmental Contributions

The firm has contracted, through Community Energy, (www.newwindenergy.com) to purchase “green energy” power usage in wind energy for the 2008 year. Green energy power is produced from renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, geothermal energy, and landfill gas. These energy sources have dramatically lower pollution emissions and cause much less environmental damage than fossil fuels.

The Natural Resources Defense Council (www.nrdc.org) is one of the nation’s most effective environmental action groups. Their mission is to safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.

Earthjustice (www.earthjustice.org) is a national non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting the magnificent places, natural resources, and wildlife of this earth, and to defending the right of all people to a healthy environment. Earthjustice was founded as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund in 1971. Since then, it has become the leading nonprofit environmental law firm in the country.

The Nature Conservancy (www.thenatureconservancy.com) is a leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people by private acquisition of those resources.

Community and Worldwide Contributions

The People’s Resource Center (www.peoplesrc.org) serves, as it has for the past 31 years, tens of thousands of DuPage County residents by providing assistance and help for today, food, clothing, and rent assistance, as well as hope for tomorrow, through literacy education, training, access to technology, and art enrichment.

The Annie Ryan Foundation (www.annierun.com) supports families of children who have been diagnosed with pediatric brain tumors which are now the leading cause of childhood cancer related deaths. The Annie Ryan Foundation hosts the annual Annie Ryan Fun Run in Elmhurst which is committed to support the programs of the Midwest Children’s Brain Tumor Center. The journey that these families are on is a difficult one; but with continued sponsorship, the Center will continue offering the latest technology and family support programs.

Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.com) volunteers repair childhood facial deformities while building public and private partnerships that advocate for sustainable healthcare systems for children and families. Together, they create smiles, change lives, and heal humanity.
