Michelle Grotto has been an associate attorney with Walsh, Knippen, Knight & Pollock, Chartered, since 2008. Michelle plays an integral role in many of the firm's cases, assisting other attorneys throughout the various stages of the litigation process. She also prosecutes Wheaton City Ordinance and Zoning Violations.
Michelle attended Northern Illinois University College of Law and graduated in May 2008. While at Northern, Michelle was a staff member and assistant editor of the Northern Illinois University Law Review. Michelle graduated fifth in her class and was awarded the Brewster Parker Award, which is presented annually to the member of the graduating class who had outstanding achievement in courses focusing on property, real estate, and land use law. Michelle worked throughout her three years of law school as a law clerk for non-profit organizations and firms, including the Illinois Coalition for Equal Justice and Ottosen, Britz, Kelly and Cooper, Ltd.
Prior to attending Northern Illinois University College of Law, Michelle honorably served in the United States Coast Guard from 2000-2004. Michelle's assignment was in the Coast Guard Band, which is one of the premier military bands in the United States. Her time in the Coast Guard provided her with the opportunity to travel all across the United States and perform as featured soloist. Her Coast Guard schedule also allowed Michelle to teach private music lessons in the Eastern Connecticut Community and help organize music education workshops for underprivileged children. From 2004-2005, Michelle served as an AmeriCorps VISTA with the United States Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency, whose long term goal is to achieve entrepreneurial parity for minority business enterprises.
Michelle's diverse background allows her to serve the clients of Walsh, Knippen, Knight & Pollock, Chartered, with compassion and understanding, as well as with a strong commitment to excellence in the practice of law.
Michelle comes from a family of twelve. During her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, working out and traveling.
